    • Fiat 21 Project: Southwest Louisiana's Servants of God

In 2021, the young women of McNeese Cowboy Catholics undertook a special mission to promote the causes for cannonization of three Southwest Louisiana Servants of God. Journey along with them as they learn about Charlene Marie Richard, Father Joseph Verbis Lafleur and Auguste "Nonco" Pelafigue. We pray that this project will inspire you to visit and grow in devotion to these three, as they will lead you closer to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

    COWBOY AWAKENING #80
Imagine a place where peace and joy embrace you, where every moment feels like a gentle whisper of divine love. This semester, students embarked on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening at our Awakening Retreat. Gemma Campbell, one of the attendees, beautifully encapsulates her experience: "My experience at the Awakening Retreat was that of a peace and joy in which I had been yearning for."

Throughout the retreat, participants encountered the love of Christ in profound ways. From
forging new friendships grounded in faith to delving into inspiring lectures, every activity resonated with the essence of divine affection. Gemma vividly recalls experiencing the love of the Mystical Body of Christ throughout the weekend, witnessing conversions, and seeing God work through each activity, each serving as a testament to God's true presence in our lives.

But the Awakening Retreat isn't merely about surface-level encounters; it's truly an awakening of the body, heart, and soul. Gemma reflects on this comprehensive transformation: "The Awakening retreat is not only directed towards one part of the human creature; it is an awakening of the body, the heart, and the soul."

For those who may have drifted from God's love, the retreat serves as a gentle reminder. For those whose spirits have waned, it offers revitalization. And for truth-seekers, it becomes a beacon of enlightenment. Gemma passionately urges all truth-seekers, regardless of religious affiliation, to embark on this journey: "I encourage those who hunger for truth, regardless of religion, to seek it at the Awakening retreat."

As Gemma quotes from Matthew 7:7, "seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door shall be opened to you." The retreat becomes a path to rediscover the eternal truth embodied in Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In the depths of our yearning hearts, He patiently awaits our embrace. As Gemma beautifully concludes, "One must simply say YES."

The Awakening Retreat isn't just an event; it's an invitation to encounter divine love, to rediscover our purpose, and to embark on a journey of spiritual renewal. In the embrace of this sacred space, hearts are transformed, souls are uplifted, and lives are forever changed.
